(Hot) Michael Schumacher Back to F1 with Mercedes GP PETRONAS

After 3-year period of waiting, world’s top FORMULA ONE driver, Michael Schumacher is back and this time it’s not Ferrari but Mercedes GP PETRONAS Team. After speculation reached fever pitch in recent days, the comeback plan was confirmed in a press conference at the team’s factory on Wednesday morning. The deal reunites the German with Ross Brawn, the man who masterminded all seven of his world titles with Benetton and Ferrari and who runs Mercedes GP having saved the Brackley-based squad from closure in a management buyout last winter.

Schumey when interviewed mentioned that it’s inspiring to be back and work with Ross Brawn, Mercedes and PETRONAS. Just remember that Ross Brawn was the guy who guided Schumacher’s 7-times wins in F1. Just a few days ago, PETRONAS, our very own national oil company announced of its partnership with Mercedes GP and will become its title sponsor. It was rather a slick move by the National Oil company and a combination of Schumacher, Mercedes Benz  which is a 2009 constructor’s winner will definitely improve its image worldwide.

SCHUMACHER’S INTERVIEW

It’s no brainer that Schumacher wants to join the winning team.

Ross Brawn, Team Principal of MERCEDES GP PETRONAS: “I am delighted that we can confirm today that Michael will make his much-anticipated return to Formula One next year and drive for our MERCEDES GP PETRONAS team. As seven-time World Champion, Michael’s outstanding record in Formula One speaks for itself and I am looking forward to working with him again. With the completion of our driver line-up, I believe that we now have the most exciting partnership in Formula One with Michael and Nico, who provide the perfect mix of talent, experience, speed and youth. We can now turn our full attention to the preparations for the new season and everyone at MERCEDES GP PETRONAS is extremely excited about the challenge ahead. With the investment and support in our team provided by Daimler, Aabar and our new title partner PETRONAS and with two such exciting drivers, we have all of the building blocks in place to have another successful season in 2010.”

WILL THE NEW MERCEDES GP PETRONAS F1 TEAM LIVERY LOOKS LIKE THIS?

This is a big slap on the face of FERRARI. I guess I will be supporting a Mercedes Team this year. Lotus F1? Yeah may be that too, only if they can beat Virgin Racing
